Measure Your Rod or Track Width

Start with the full width your curtains need to cover.

Measure the usable width of an installed curtain rod or track

Already Installed

Measure the full usable width of your existing rod or track.

Rod: Measure between the finials
Plan curtain rod width beyond both sides of the window

Not Installed Yet

Measure the window first, then plan the rod or track beyond the frame.

Extend: 6–15" each side Above window: 6–10"
Measure the rod or track width — not only the window glass.

Grommet, Rod Pocket, Back Tab

Panel Width
Rod / Track Width ÷ Panel Quantity × Fullness
Example:
Rod / Track Width: 100"
Panel Quantity: 2 · Fullness: 2×
100" ÷ 2 × 2 = 100" per panel

Built-In Fullness Headers

Pinch Pleat 2.5× · S-Fold / Wave 2.6×

Panel Width
Rod / Track Width ÷ Panel Quantity
Example:
Rod / Track Width: 100"
Panel Quantity: 2 · Built-in fullness
100" ÷ 2 = 50" finished width per panel

How to Measure Curtain Length

Your starting point depends on the header style you choose.

Grommet

+1.5"

Measure from the top of the rod to the floor, then add 1.5 inches.

Rod Pocket / Back Tab

Rod → Floor

Measure from the top of the rod to your desired finished length.

Triple Pinch Pleat

−2"

Measure from the rod to the floor, then subtract 2 inches.

S-Fold / Wave

Track → Floor

Measure from the track hanging reference point to the floor.

Measure vertically to the point where you want the finished curtain to end.
